Diatiro, a company formed out of Catalyst Project Kidney Pod, has secured Seed funding, led by Engage Venture Partners, alongside backing from the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Diatiro, derived from the Greek word for preservation, reflects the company’s mission to enhance organ preservation, starting with kidneys. Their validated and precision-engineered Kidney Pod maintains kidneys at a regulated temperature from surgical prep until the conclusion of transplantation, solving a critical “last-mile” issue of keeping the organ at an optimal temperature at the point of implantation. By increasing the pool of viable organs, Diatiro is poised to make a profound impact on the lives of countless patients awaiting transplants.
The company, led by Dr. Keith Hansen and Darja Wendel, will use the funds for manufacturing, verification/validation, and FDA approval, aiming to make the device available for surgical use in the near future.
